Prayer

Prayer gives people a quiet moment to pause, reflect, and speak openly with God. At Anlaby Church, prayer is part of everyday church life. Some come looking for peace. Some come carrying worries. Others simply want a place to sit quietly for a while.

Ways to pray with us

Personal prayer
The church is open for anyone who would like time for private prayer or reflection. You’re welcome to sit in silence, light a candle, or spend a few quiet moments away from the noise of daily life.

Prayer requests
If you would like prayer for yourself, a friend, or a family member, we’re here to support you. You can send a request by:

Prayer meetings
We regularly meet together to pray for our church, local community, and the wider world. These gatherings give people time to pray alongside others and encourage one another in faith.

Sunday intercessions
During Sunday services, we pray for people in need, our community, and situations around the world. If you have a prayer request you’d like included, please let us know before the service.

Healing prayer
We also offer prayer for healing, comfort, and strength. This may happen during a service or privately with someone from the prayer ministry team.

The Lord’s Prayer

Jesus taught his disciples to pray with these words:

“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.”
